HITTING

Great Lakes Baseball Academy started in the roots of youth baseball.  Our company emerged in 2015 with a vision to provide hundreds of athletes of all ages in the state of Minnesota a chance to receive elite instruction at an affordable rate.  While our vision remains focused on player development, character development, and changing lives through baseball, Great Lakes Baseball would like to develop into a statewide organization that serves communities and athletes outside of the Minneapolis – St. Paul metro area.

YOUTH
DRIVELINE

Great Lakes Driveline hitting program is designed to help hitters become more consistent hitters while developing a better understanding of the kinetic chain and how to create force using our two force vectors. The formula is pretty straightforward - stronger athletes that swing more efficiently create higher exit velocities. Using data and research driven instruction, there's not a more comprehensive hitting program in the state.

PERFORMANCE

Great Lakes Youth Training is designed for the future high school and college baseball player. Open to athletes 13 and younger, training will provide athletes the opportunity to learn movement patterns, athleticism, and an introduction into team focused training. We teach athletes weight room safety and how to properly squat, hinge, hinge, push and pull with minimal external load. We also focus on speed and agility components to ensure these young players are ready for the demands of high school ball and the accompanying commitments of training.

Bigger, faster, stronger always makes a difference in athletics. This is especially true at the youth level. Skill is generally low so the margin for physical prowess to be the difference maker increases. Good training habits and proper mechanics pay off in a big way. Our staff’s attentiveness to these lifters keeps them safe as they learn the value of hard work.

SPRING

Spring is a time for fine tuning. Our athletes have been training at a high volume all off-season long. Because our youth athletes don’t have to contend with high school baseball, we can get a jump on the summer ball season. We introduce velocity focused training to mimic the demands of the sport and add in more speed and plyometric work.

SUMMER

Summer at Great Lakes is all go! The athletes spend 12 weekends playing baseball and that demand takes a toll on their bodies. Our focus in the summer months is recovery workouts, aerobic flushes, and contralateral circuits to get the recovery going as well as program power and speed work.

WINTER

Off-season training is our bread and butter. We build our athlete’s athletic base by training general preparedness, sport specific energy systems, muscular endurance, and sarcoplasmic hypertrophy. After a few months of setting a solid foundation, we begin to lay the bricks of basic strength. Strength raises the athlete's ceiling in terms of force output. This will be our focus in the off-season for our youth athletes. We concurrently train speed and agility to keep them fast while also learning body awareness.

Dec. 5th – March 17th (16 weeks) *same dates as baseball related training

Fall youth training is imperative to the success of the off season. After the final maintenance training of fall ball finishes up, we begin with a general preparedness phase. This leads into a sport specific energy systems and muscular endurance focus. Young athletes learn and perfect mechanics and movements patterns that will serve them well in the upcoming off-season. The remainder of fall training revolves around hypertrophy and strength training.

Sept. 12th - Nov. 25th (11 weeks) *same dates as baseball related training
