PITCHING

There's no secret to playing college baseball; throw hard and hit it farther. With this understanding in mind, our Great Lakes Pitching Coordinator Matt Doornink has created a program with the specific goal of increasing arm strength, velocity, and durability.

Our program is designed from a combination of velocity and biomechanical elements from top industry leaders such as Driveline, Texas Baseball Ranch, Top Velocity, Eric Cressey Sports Performance, and more.

ELITE & INVITE

Our Elite (4 Days / Week) and Invite (3 Days / Week) programs are the premier developmental offering at our Academy — designed for serious, high-level athletes who are ready to train like collegiate pitchers.
Anchored in our High Performance Model, this program delivers a fully integrated, science-backed training experience. Daily coordination between our pitching and strength departments ensures that each athlete receives the optimal balance of throwing, lifting, and recovery work to maximize development without overtraining.
The extended 17-week schedule provides a long runway into the spring season, giving us time to complete our comprehensive winter training and still dedicate focused time to variable, game-like scenarios.

•64-Point Mechanical Evaluation: A full movement screen and video breakdown to identify inefficiencies, imbalances, and areas for improvement.
• Intent-Based Throwing Program: Velocity and command development through individualized throwing progressions.
•Pitch Design Sessions: Utilizing Rapsodo and high-speed cameras and ball-tracking technology to refine pitch shapes, optimize movement profiles, and improve pitch sequencing.
•Live At-Bats: Regular sessions against hitters to simulate real game situations and apply training in a competitive environment.
• Arm Care Protocols: Shoulder and elbow health supported through customized stability, mobility, and strength programming.
•Kinetic Chain Optimization: Drills and movement work designed to enhance energy transfer and efficiency from the ground up.
•Classroom Sessions: Covering pitch design, mechanical breakdowns, attacking hitters, and the mental side of pitching.

•Daily Strength and Performance Sessions
•Saturday Dome Long Toss Sessions

HS PITCH

This program is designed specifically for high school pitchers looking to improve their mechanics, command, and overall performance on the mound. Athletes will receive individualized throwing programs focused on developing velocity, enhancing mechanical efficiency, and building better control. Pitchers will also participate in classroom sessions covering key topics such as pitch sequencing, reading hitters, and the mental side of the game. In addition, players will engage in regular pitch design sessions using video and technology to help shape and improve pitch movement. Live at-bats are incorporated throughout the program to give pitchers valuable game-like experience in a controlled setting.

REmote

At Great Lakes Baseball Academy, we understand that not every pitcher can train with us in person year-round. That’s why we offer comprehensive remote training programs designed to help athletes across the country develop their skills and achieve their goals—no matter where they are.

Just like our in-house training, every remote program begins with a thorough evaluation so we can get to know you, assess your current performance, and understand your individual goals. From there, our coaching staff builds a personalized development plan based on your strengths, areas for growth, and long-term objectives. Your progress is tracked closely, with regular check-ins, video analysis, and data feedback to ensure continued improvement.

While many athletes train fully remote, most choose to schedule strategic in-person visits throughout the year. These visits allow you to:

Access our in-house technology and assessments

Train in a high-level, competitive environment

Connect face-to-face with your coach

Engage with other driven pitchers in our community

Whether you're training with us in house or checking in remotely, you’ll experience the same level of commitment, precision, and support that defines Great Lakes Baseball Academy.

Pitch Design Session

elite one-on-one throwing sessions leverage high-speed camera technology (up to 100 frames per second) to give athletes an in-depth look at what’s actually happening at the moment of release—where pitch movement is ultimately dictated.

By capturing every nuance of your throwing motion in ultra-slow detail, our coaches can analyze critical release-point mechanics such as:

Finger placement and pressure

Wrist and forearm positioning

Seam orientation at release

Spin axis and efficiency

This level of insight allows us to make precise adjustments that directly impact pitch movement, command, and overall efficiency. Whether you're looking to develop sharper break, increase velocity, or improve consistency, the combination of high-speed video and expert instruction helps you understand exactly how to improve—and why it matters. You'll also receive a comprehensive Rapsodo Report and have access to an online portal where you can view or download video and metrics.
